Vehicles in Germany's City Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were notified by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the substance was most likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for tips.

A high-ranking representative stated the incident rendered him speechless and required to be solved quickly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
